Description
Adopt-a-Highway is a program launched by the Virginia Department of Transportation in 1988. Volunteer groups and individuals adopt a two mile or longer stretch of roadway and make a two year commitment to pick up the trash at least four times a year.

Responsible for building, maintaining and operating the state's roads, bridges and tunnels. Through the Commonwealth Transportation Board, it provides funding for airports, seaports, rail and public transportation.
