Work4Ward Workforce Development Program provides opportunities for participants to engage in in-demand training and certification that is relevant, accessible, and can earn a living wage for low-income households and individuals. Work4Ward offers healthcare and/or STEM-related administrative support and clinical practical training courses. All course content prepares participants to earn a leading national certification. This includes prep sessions and assistance with scheduling the exam for certification. Upon certification, participants will be assisted with securing gainful employment. Work4Ward courses are typically two to four months in duration. Employment Supportive Services offers personal training in acquiring techniques necessary for seeking and maintaining a job. Services include job preparation, interview techniques, job retention, employment counseling, referral and/or placement application completion, resume writing, job readiness training, money management, understanding credit scores, establishing and maintaining good credit, overcoming financial barriers and setting financial goals. All participants in the program must be willing to pursue the necessary educational opportunities to enhance their employment options. In addition, STOP provides bus tickets in an effort to assist participants in obtaining and retaining employment. Employment services are funded to serve the Cities of Chesapeake, Franklin, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach and the Counties of Isle of Wight and Southampton
