Early Head Start/Head Start - Staunton, Shenandoah Valley Head Start & Early Head Start
A comprehensive early childhood education program serving children 6 weeks to 5 years old and their families in school-based and community-based settings in the Cities of Harrisonburg, Staunton, and Waynesboro, and in the Counties of Augusta, Bath, and Highland. Program focuses on child and family development and promotes school readiness. Comprehensive services support development in the areas of social skills, emotional awareness, mental health, health and wellness, education, and family involvement. The program emphasizes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development that is age appropriate for each child.

The Shenandoah Valley Head Start & Early Head Start programs provide free, comprehensive preschool services which promote school readiness skills to eligible children and families. SVHS & EHS provides children from birth to 4 years old with a quality learning environment and various experiences to support social, intellectual, physical and emotional development. Parent involvement is encouraged through the parent advisory board and volunteering.
