Serves 62 counties in Central and Western Virginia as well as Virginia Beach. The National Hotline routes to the nearest Poison Control Center within the United States. When necessary, the poison center can give immediate management advice to a care giver in the home and activate the emergency medical services system to bring the victim to the hospital. The BRPC also provides advice and consultation to health care providers charged with the care of a poisoning emergency. Our medical director, a physician with specialty training in the field of medical toxicology, is available 24 hours-a-day to provide physician to physician advice.
