Virginia's State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program advocates for people in residential care settings, including nursing homes and assisted living facilities, or who are receiving care at home. The ombudsman works with patients/residents, families, and institutions to favorably resolve care and residents' rights issues.

JABA offers information and a wide range of services that help older adults and individuals with disabilities remain active in the community. Services are available to those who can pay and to those who cannot. The inter-generational services include community senior centers in Charlottesville City and Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson counties that offer a gathering place for weekday socializing and hot lunch. Additional services include Aging Services Coordination, Home Delivered Meals, Respite & Enrichment Centers, caregiver support groups, Insurance Counseling, Senior Helpline, long-term care advocates, volunteer opportunities, and resources on home care, health services, affordable senior housing, assisted living and more.
