This program helps first-time homebuyers purchase in Arlington by providing a deferred-payment, zero-interest second trust mortgage of up to 25% of the home purchase price. Must attend a 6-hour VHDA Homebuyer Education Course and obtain a certificate of completion.
Homeownership opportunities are available to assist First-Time Homebuyers purchasing a home in the City of Richmond and Henrico County. Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance is available.

HOME offers comprehensive homebuyer education and counseling as well as provides down payment and closing cost assistance to low & middle income families who have the cash flow necessary to handle a mortgage payment, but are unable to put together the relatively large amount of money necessary to cover the down payment and closing costs. Financial assistance terms vary.
HUD Certified Housing Counselors provide anyone pursuing the homeownership dream with all the necessary information, financial evaluation, and guidance to achieve their housing goals. Also, Housing Counselors help them to understand their options and assist in becoming "mortgage ready" by helping them to improve their credit and manage their budget and debt.
Provides information on homeownership, homeownership education, homeownership counseling sessions, opportunities to meet with lenders, applicant briefings, and coordination of resources for current and prospective first-time homebuyers. Income restrictions apply.
