Emergency Rental Assistance for those facing eviction. Assistance with delinquent rent for the current month. Please note that all other rental cost including prior months rent, late fees, deposits, damages, and/or court cost must be satisfied before assistance can be approved. Referrals and Appointments based on availability of funds.
Provides rent assistance to residents of Richmond City and Henrico County. Rent must be 1-month overdue, late fees and other fees must be paid prior to funds being released. Do not assist with rent deposit nor move in expenses or hotel fees.
This program offers eligible tenants the opportunity to stay in their homes by providing financial assistance, guidance, and support. SCDHC work with both tenants and landlords to prevent eviction, ensuring you have the resources and information needed to maintain stable housing.

This program helps and prevent someone from becoming homeless. Payment can be made to assist clients to retain their existing housing or transition to alternative housing, if they are at imminent risk of homelessness w/in 14 days.

Agency assists residents in Altavista, Hurt, Gretna and Evington. Applications for electric bills, heating bills, and rental assistance are taken by a volunteer. The applications are then reviewed by DAWN's Administrative Staff.

Emergency financial assistance with rent, utilities, medical need expenses by referral. The program disburses up to $750 once in a six-month period to clients for rent, utilities, and medical expenses. Payments are made out directly to the payee, not the requesting individual. Referrals are required.

Assist households who can typically afford their current housing but experienced a temporary financial crisis jeopardizing their housing stability. These households will need a 5 Day Pay or Quit. Move households who are residing in hotels/motels, or who are doubled up, into affordable rental housing. Move households currently in unaffordable housing into housing they can afford. Move households who are residing in shelters or on the street into affordable housing only if rapid re-housing funds are not available OR if the household does not qualify for rapid re-housing funds. The households must contribute toward the rent, as determined by HUD’s online calculator. Due to the limited amount of funding, cases will be closed if it takes the clients more than 30 days to secure housing.
VPAS' Emergency Services program provides one-time immediate financial assistance and other resources, including referrals to other public and private agencies to older adults who have an emergency need. Emergency Services may include payment assistance for medication refills, assistive devices, and utility and rent payments. Assistance is provided one-time, per year, per older adult age 60+, who must have an emergency need for help which endangers their health and/or well-being.

Assistive Technology Equipment
Provides emergency financial assistance to eligible low-income families and individuals for rent, utilities, prescriptions, and other necessities when available. We do not assist with security deposits or first month rent. PCC assists eligible clients one time per year, depending on funding availability. All payments are made directly to vendors. Prescription assistance is available for eligible clients, based on funding. PCC serves only southeast and northeast Roanoke City, eastern Roanoke County and Vinton residents.

Services to provide for temporary emergency needs such as food, rent or utilities. Due to limited funding, eligible individuals may be referred to community resources to help meet their needs. In addition, citizens may inquire about available resources to assist with other needs such as clothing, eyeglasses, housewares, etc. A small amount of funding is available to provide a one time assistance with transportation such as a gas card, or a modest car repair.
