NRV CARES provides community education about child abuse and its effects through events including: Community presentations, sponsoring "Hugs and Kisses" plays for elementary schools, annual mini-conference, parenting workshops, "Stewards of Children" child sexual abuse prevention training sessions, and increasing aware through distribution of pinwheels during Child Abuse Prevention month (April).
The Center for Alexandria's Children is a local nonprofit organization working to END child abuse in the City of Alexandria. As Alexandria's Nationally Accredited Child Advocacy Center, we deliver evidence-based prevention, intervention, and education programs to respond to abuse, prevent future harm, and equip adults to be protectors of children. ✅ Prevention We facilitate specialized Learn&PlayGroups™ for parents and children ages 0–5 that build strong families and safe childhoods. Using a play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum, our experienced facilitators strengthen the parent-child bond, promote protective factors that prevent abuse, and connect families to vital community resources and supports. Priority registration is offered to families facing the greatest need. ✅ Education We deliver evidence-based prevention education programs throughout the City of Alexandria to build a community of informed, empowered adults. Through Darkness to Light trainings, we teach parents, caregivers, educators, and community members how to prevent, recognize, and respond to child sexual abuse—creating safer environments where children can thrive.
The Family Advocacy Program (FAP) is dedicated to promoting domestic violence awareness, and child abuse & neglect by providing a variety of services to strengthen military Families and enhance resiliency. Commander & Troop Education.

KCSC provides linguistically and culturally appropriate information & referral, emergency services, comprehensive case management, and wrap around services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and dating violence. KCSC also provides marriage and relationship education and counseling.

Avalon's Youth Services program offers prevention, education, counseling, support groups and advocacy for children and youth who are victims or witnesses to domestic or sexual violence, dating violence, bullying, stalking or who have experienced trauma.
An inter-agency coalition of professionals that include human service agencies, attorneys, legal aid, judges, police officers and health care providers. Members work together to improve and increase resources available to address domestic and family violence.
Provides free education workshops on sexual assault and domestic violence. We provide support and advocacy to the UVA community who have concerns about sexual assault, dating/domestic violence (battering), and stalking Our goals are to strengthen services for survivors, as well as the University of Virginia policies and procedures that address these issues.

Family Advocacy promote healthy military family development through the prevention, identification, and treatment of intimate partner violence and child abuse and neglect. As well as assisting commands in support of the involved service members and families. FAP stresses early intervention and education to protect victims and increase family competencies. The Community Education program at FCSS is Responsible for creating and providing an awareness of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and homelessness. This program disseminates and distributes information regarding FCSS, Inc and its services. Annual seminars, school and college presentations, and inservice trainings are available upon request.

The Elder Abuse Prevention Specialist coordinates community education programs regarding issues of elder abuse and elder abuse prevention and provides guidance with making referrals for suspected incidents of elder abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
Community Programs encompass all of SCAN's prevention programs and initiatives that are at the community, state and organizational level. These programs are focused on the prevention of child maltreatment through the advancement of protective factors and trauma informed approaches in organizations, communities and systems.

Darkness to Light (D2L) - Stewards of Children introduces a curriculum that educates the community about child sexual abuse and surrounding issues. Information provided assists in identifying child abuse, child neglect, and child sexual abuse, and teaches community members how to report concerns of abuse and neglect. Skills developed in the D2L - Stewards of Children empower community members to share in the protection of children by effectively identifying, responding to and reporting child abuse.
