Provides direct services to victims and witnesses of crime. These services are defined as those efforts that respond to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims, assist victims of crime to stabilize their lives after victimization, assist victims to understand and participate in the criminal justice system, and provide victims with information and referrals for services.
The Fund reimburses innocent victims of violent crime for out-of-pocket crime related expenses such as: medical, dental, mental health, moving, wage loss, funeral, etc. Victims must be a victim of a violent crime in Virginia, have reported the crime within 120 hours, and cooperate with law enforcement.

Offers support, accompaniment, basic information, and advocacy to victims and survivors of sexual assault. However, these services do not provide any type of legal advice. Anyone needing detailed information about the criminal justice process or advice from an attorney is offered referrals in addition to our other services.

Administered by the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney, helps to insure that crime victims and witnesses receive fair and compassionate treatment while participating in the criminal justice system. If you are a victim or a witness of a crime, your role is vital to the court process. Many victims and witnesses are not familiar with the criminal justice system. The focus of the Program is to acquaint victims and witnesses with the criminal justice system including specific case information, court procedures, and final disposition.

The Arlington Victim/Witness Program is committed to facilitating the treatment of victims with fairness, dignity and respect as specified in the Virginia Bill of Rights Needs of Crime Victims

Services provided include: Monitoring restitution payments to ensure that they are being made in a timely fashion * assist in filing for Criminal Injuries Compensation Fund * provide intervention and follow-up counseling * notification of the prisoner's status, provide you with employer intercession * assist in writing Impact Statements * assist in return of property being held for evidence * updates on case status * go to court with victim or witness * provide referral to other resources * assist in obtaining protection * advance notice of judicial proceedings.
Assists all victims of crime with court advocacy, referrals for services relating to counseling, financial aid, crisis counseling, assistance with obtaining protection orders, and legal advocacy.
MADD provide support to drunk driving crash victims, and support to bereaved families in Richmond and statewide. Support includes emotional support, help through the criminal justice system and information on resources for financial support. MADD is unable to provide financial support to individuals.

Advocacy
Provides support to victims and witnesses of felony crimes throughout the court process, with the goal of reducing their confusion and trauma by explaining the criminal process and providing information and/or services.
Offers help to families who are in need of community resources. Families do not need to be living in the Samaritan House shelter to use this service. Other services that victim advocates offer are: Crisis counseling and intervention; accompanying victims to court, encourage the victim to attend the Survivor Support Groups; perform a "Safety and Lethality" assessment to help them figure out the danger they are facing; help clients develop a safety plan for each family member.
