Head Start is a federally funded Pre-Kindergarten program which provides low-income children ages three to five years with a variety of experiences to help them develop socially, cognitively, physically, and emotionally. Because Head Start regards the parent as the most important teacher in a child’s life, we involve parents as much as possible in every aspect of the program. New River Community Action Head Start’s mission is to build on the unique strengths of children and families through positive engagement, health education, and a quality Pre-Kindergarten experience. CLASSROOM-BASED: PART-DAY AND FULL-DAY OPTIONS. Serves 3-5-year-old children Full day: five days a week from August to May. Part day: four days a week, Tuesday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., August to May.

Offers a traditional classroom environment for 3 year olds and a separate program for 4 & 5 year olds. The curriculum emphasizes recreation with creative programs and materials that encourage and invite participation.

Healthy Families provides voluntary, comprehensive home-visiting services that support at-risk expectant and new parents and help prevent poor childhood outcomes. Home visits are activity-based and focus on a variety of topics including healthy family functioning, family goal planning, maternal and child health, positive parenting strategies, child development, and school readiness. Home visitors also provide families with referrals to a wide array of community resources.

Barrett Early Learning Center is to promote and foster growth and development in children, ages 2-5 years old, by providing a high-quality early learning/child care environment that offers a variety of sensory, language, cognitive and social experiences designed to generate a love for learning and prepare children for a successful future in education and life.

Provides a preschool program for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. Follows the standards of the nationally recognized Creative Curriculum. Children from all backgrounds and income levels are welcome. Partial preschool tuition scholarships are available. The James L. and Juliette McNeil Preschool Academy is a NAEYC accredited program.

The center serves children ages: 6 weeks- 5 years old for all year round school 6 years old- 12 years old from June- August Parents may choose full time, part time, or drop in care

Head Start and Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) provides preschool for the children of Spotsylvania County who will be age four on or before September 30th for the school year prior to kindergarten. Both programs are based on income and other child and family factors.

Child Care Center

ELC provides an enriching environment, with special emphasis on social-emotional development along with an evidence-based curriculum to ensure that children are prepared to learn when they enter Kindergarten.

We deliver educational programs that foster self-esteem, encourage curiosity and inspire children's desire to be lifelong learners. License by the Virginia Department of Social Services.

Orange County Head Start & Pre-K Programs are designed to provide preschool experiences for children, including children with special needs. The program is available for children birth to five years of age and includes support services for families. Limited transportation may be available. There is no cost to families for participation.
