The Adult and Continuing Education program offers a variety of classes, including classes for those seeking a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED), and the External Diploma Program (for adults 21 and older). We offer English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes at various levels. In addition, we offer general interest courses that include a variety of computer classes, beginning foreign language, sign language, safe boating, health occupations exam preparation classes, and more! These general interest courses are tuition-based courses.
Offers free basic skills instruction to adult students,18 and older, living in the counties of Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell, and Tazewell in Virginia. Programs are designed to meet the needs of adults who have not completed high school. Classes are offered in Adult Basic Education/Pre-GED and GED preparation. All classes are free and are conveniently located throughout the region. Offer several certification classes including CNA, Welding, Paraprofessional and ServSafe. Also offer workforce preparation classes, financial literacy, computer skills and the National Career Readiness Certificate.

Southside Programs for Adult Continuing Education provides adult education classes to adults 18 years of age and older.
Provides a basic adult education program.
Offers Adult Basic Education (ABE) and GED preparatory classes and serves those individuals 18 years old who have not earned their high school diplomas. GED/Adult Education program consists of the High School GED Program, the Adult Education Program, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and GED testing.
Offers programs for adult residents of Hampton who wish to obtain their high school credential or build job skills.

The only Virginia Board-approved High School Equivalency examination in Virginia is the GED test, developed jointly by the American Council on Education and Pearson Vue, to enable persons who have not graduated from high school to demonstrate the attainment of abilities normally associated with completion of a high school program of study. The 2014 GED® test series measures not only high school equivalency, but also career and college readiness. The four tests include Reasoning through Language Arts (Writing and Reading), Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies

Provide an alternative to public schools. Uses the Alpha Omega curriculum, which meets state standards and is advanced in the high school levels. The curriculum is self paced and students have one-on-one help. Offers an adult program for adults who dropped out of school, and want to return to graduate. Also work with all branches of the military to help those who are interested in enlisting, but lack their diploma. Offers a home school correspondence program in K-12. Offers services to those who are home schooling.

The Charlottesville City Schools Adult Education program believes that all adults are capable of learning and deserve a chance to further their education. We offer quality services at affordable cost to a diverse adult population. We offer classes in Basic Academic Skills, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESL-five levels), GED Prep, and Family Literacy classes to improve the ability of adults to meet their goals as parents, workers and community members. We also work with businesses to provide custom-designed classes for employees.

The Powhatan County Public School System has an adult education program that is available to any adult who is 18 and over and who is a resident of Powhatan County. There is also a Senior School designed to meet the needs and interests of the senior adults residing in Powhatan County.
Provides free literacy services to as many adult learners in the community that need help. Offers one-on-one tutoring to adults wishing to learn to read, improve basic skills, obtain a GED, or learn English as a second language. Also offering ESL classes.
