Provides instructional services to Charlottesville, Albemarle County and other Central Virginia residents whose academic skills are below the 12th grade level. Services help adults improve their basic skills, prepare for the GED exam, learn English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), and learn together with their children. General Adult Education (GAE) provides instructional services to Charlottesville, Albemarle County and other Central Virginia residents who are working toward a high school diploma. Evening high school classes are offered to these students. ACCESSIBILITY: Fully accessible to persons with disabilities.

Provides an Adult education at VVTC that encourages numerous kinds of training. Included under the adult training umbrella are; day and evening training in agriculture, business, health occupations and trade and industrial areas. The Center is the regional related instruction center for the Virginia Apprenticeship Training program. The Center has numerous training relationships with area businesses and industries. In keeping with the overall mission of Valley Vocational-Technical Center, the adult program strives to offer up-to-date training in keeping with community demands. The success of the program is evident by the average annual adult enrollment the center experiences. Many employees in local businesses, industries, and agencies received their job training at Valley Vocational-Technical Center. Local businesses and industries continue to be highly involved in the on-going development of the adult program. The ever-increasing level of technology demanded by today's work-place spells a bright future for adult training at VVTC. Literacy Volunteers - Prince William (LVA-PW) provides adult learners in Prince William County dignity, equity, and inspiration through the gift of literacy and health literacy. Mission success is achieved through holistic literacy, an innovative educational approach developed by and unique to LVA-PW. The approach encapsulates a broader understanding of literacy that encompasses both general English-based literacy skills with complex health-related information.

Middle Peninsula Regional Adult Continuing Education provides instruction to adults to improve basic academic skills (reading, writing, and math), GED Preparation (for high school equivalency) and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages). Middle Peninsula Regional Adult & Career Education (R.A.C.E.) is a Consortium made up of the public school systems in the counties of Essex, Gloucester, King & Queen, King William, Mathews, and Middlesex, and the Town of West Point. It is one of the 22 Federal and State funded adult basic education programs serving the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Provide an alternative to public schools. Uses the Alpha Omega curriculum, which meets state standards and is advanced in the high school levels. The curriculum is self paced and students have one-on-one help. Offers an adult program for adults who dropped out of school, and want to return to graduate. Also work with all branches of the military to help those who are interested in enlisting, but lack their diploma. Offers a home school correspondence program in K-12. Offers services to those who are home schooling.

Provides free preparatory classes for GED and Pre-GED. Classes are offered in the following subject areas: science, literature, writing skills, mathematics and reading comprehension for social studies.Also assists students in preparing for the GED test. Class locations and schedules are: Montgomery County Government Center 755 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg Building C, Suite B Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 12:00pm noon. Wilson Avenue House 404 Wilson Avenue, Blacksburg (Beside Harding Avenue Elementary) Tuesday and Thursday, 6:30pm to 9:00pm. Christiansburg High School 100 Independence Boulevard, Christiansburg Room A-213 Monday and Tuesday, 6:30pm to 9:00pm. Price's Fork Elementary School 4237 Price's fork Road, Blacksburg Media Center Monday and Thursday, 6:00pm to 8:30pm. A second adult education offering is The High School Credit Program which provides an opportunity for adults to complete their high school diploma when they are missing just a few classes. A standard adult high school diploma is awarded upon successful completion of all graduation requirements for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
