The only Virginia Board-approved High School Equivalency examination in Virginia is the GED test, developed jointly by the American Council on Education and Pearson Vue, to enable persons who have not graduated from high school to demonstrate the attainment of abilities normally associated with completion of a high school program of study. The 2014 GED® test series measures not only high school equivalency, but also career and college readiness. A standard adult high school diploma is awarded upon successful completion of all graduation requirements for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Adult Education Programs provide Latino families with tools to thrive and flourish. Programs offered are: ESL, also GED, Literacy and Citizenship classes in Spanish.

Students needing an alternative path to a high school diploma through this program. Students participate in GED studies, career exploration, and work readiness two afternoons a week. Attendance is a requirement until age 18. Students must also complete a job training program or work adjustment training through the Department of Rehabilitative Services.
