Established to assist those whose clients have a need for adult education/literacy services. Coordinates & promotes community participation and acts as a referral network between educational providers and public service providers.

Adults are provided an opportunity to improve English, basic skills in reading, math, writing, social studies and science and to prepare for the GED test, Virginia Placement Test, and contextualized curriculum for specific industry training with College and Career Readiness standards.

Provides confidential tutoring and classes, including remote services, for adults, free of charge with a one-time registration fee, using trained instructors and volunteers. One-to-one tutoring is available for any adult who wants to improve his or her literacy ability. This program serves both non-native English speakers and native-English speakers. ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes are available for non-native English speakers. We offer three levels of English classes (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced), as well as specialized classes and citizenship classes throughout the year.

BEACON offers in-person English and Citizenship classes both in the morning and in the evening. Classes are 12 weeks and site locations include: Bethel Lutheran Church, Manassas Presbyterian Church, Manassas Baptist Church, and Manassas Park Community Center. Students must come to an in-person registration to enroll in online classes.

SLC connects volunteer tutors with adult students who wish to improve their reading skills. The council trains and supports tutors as well as trains and supports students.

Provides Workplace Literacy classes on site for business and industry. The curriculum is custom designed to meet the needs of the employer and the employee. Also provides a Family Literacy program to help parents in the role as their child's first teacher. Serves the counties of Clarke, Frederick, Shenandoah, Warren and the City of Winchester.

The Progreso Center for Literacy & Citizenship is a community development and advocacy program that seeks to serve and empower immigrants to improve the quality of their lives and of their communities through education, immigration services, and leadership development.

Literacy Volunteers - Prince William (LVA-PW) provides adult learners in Prince William County dignity, equity, and inspiration through the gift of literacy and health literacy. Mission success is achieved through holistic literacy, an innovative educational approach developed by and unique to LVA-PW. The approach encapsulates a broader understanding of literacy that encompasses both general English-based literacy skills with complex health-related information.

Provides and coordinates volunteer literacy services for educationally disadvantaged adults in the Central Shenandoah Valley. Provides tutors for ABE, ESL, and GED adult students and those who wish to improve basic reading and writing skills or prepare for U.S. Citizenship. Tutors are free.

Provides outdoor experiences and academic programs, at no cost, for inner city and at-risk youths, including a multi-week summer camp. The Children's Book Bank helps to ensure that all children have quality books in their home, have the pride of book ownership, and have opportunities to read and be read to. The Book Bank program supports school readiness and literacy development in children and enables community partners to better support our children through the gift of like-new books. Provides general education services for grades K through 12 and special education services for ages two to 21. Provides GED classes an examinations where appropriate. Summer school is offered. Continuing education and vocational technical training is offered to students and to community citizens. School facilities are available for rental by community organizations.
