VDFP coordinates and delivers fire emergency services education and training programs for the fire and emergency response community, public, law enforcement and industry for the purpose of protecting and defending the commonwealth against the loss of life and property. VDFP offers training programs across Virginia through our Division Offices.
Provides a non-profit, non-partisan grassroots organization dedicated to the reduction of gun violence in Virginia by publishing and distributing newsletters, partnering with advocacy groups, and working closely with legislators to plan and support measures that help prevent gun violence.

The BabyCare program is a home-based program that fosters safe and healthy pregnancies and healthy babies by providing free education, care coordination, and support services from registered nurses to high-risk pregnant people and infants up to 24 months of age. Services Include: - intensive case management - coordination of care - portable cribs - education about prenatal care, birthing, infant care, parenting and community resources. Free child safety seats and booster seats are also available.

A MATTER OF BALANCE is an award-winning program designed to reduce the fear of falling and encourage activity. Classes are held once a week for 8 weeks or twice a week for 4 weeks. Each class is 2 hours. Workshop is FREE. You will learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risk at home and exercise to increase strength and balance. Workshops are offer virtually or in-person.

Child Care Aware of Virginia offer access to professional training opportunities through regional resource centers, partner affiliates and online at the Virginia Training Academy. Also offer free consultation services to child care providers via telephone, online, on-site, or via printed resources. This includes guidance on topics such as child development, child care regulations, quality enhancement, safety planning, family engagement, nutrition, accreditation, and more.
Provides all DMV defensive driving classes including Commercial Driver Improvement Clinic and Driver Improvement Clinic. Provides driver safety education to the community. Does not provide behind the wheel training. Offers Department of Transportation(DOT) and OSHA required training. Provides drug and alcohol testing. Offers First Aid/CPR classes. Provides consultation services to business on issues relating to safety.
Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) is an evidence-based strength, balance and fitness program for adults 65 and older. Performing exercises that improve strength, balance and fitness are the single most important activity that adults can do to stay active and reduce their chances of falling. The entire curriculum of activities in the SAIL Program can help improve strength and balance, if done regularly.

The Child Care Office licenses day care facilities; monitors their compliance with local child care ordinances, state standards, and regulations ( Arlington Child Care Center Regulation & Family Day Home Regulation); and provides education and training for providers of child care. Falls Prevention includes two programs: Falls Talk and A Matter of Balance. Falls Talk offers one-on-one interaction with a trained facilitator to help increase an individual's ability to prevent falls, to manage falls if they occur, and to become aware of fall threats (such as personal traits or circumstances that could cause a fall). It is open to individuals 50 years and older and is provided at the consumer's home or via telephone. A Matter of Balance classes help participants view falls and the fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals for increasing activity, and change their environments to reduce fall risk factors.
