The District participates in the Virginia DMV car safety seat program that includes provision of the car seat and hands-on instruction for use based on an income eligibility basis. Educational programs on various health-related issues can be scheduled through the district for groups and civic organizations.
Officers who have been trained in the proper installation of child safety seats will assist in installing a child seat.

The Hanover County Sheriff's Office has officers certified to inspect the installation of child safety seats. These officers are able to assist citizens with understanding the operation and conduct an inspection of child safety seats.

Text 4 Baby: An educational program that sends free messages each week to your cell phone to help you through your pregnancy and your babys first year. For more, information, or to sign up, visit the Text 4 Baby website www.text4baby.org. Baby Care: Education and case management services provided by a registered nurse to pregnant women and infants up to 2 years of age who are Medicaid eligible. Resource Mothers: A special mentoring program for first time pregnant or parenting teens. Teens will receive education about taking care of themselves and their infants up to one year of age. Teens will benefit from assistance with setting educational goals, accessing healthcare, and planning for the future care of their infant. Car Seat Program: Free, new car seats, including infant convertible seats and booster seats for older children, are available to families who qualify. Parents must attend a short instructional session to learn the correct placement and use of the car seat or booster seat.
