Manage the Virginia Donor Registry for organ, eye and tissue donation.
A private, nonprofit licensed by the federal government located in Tennessee and serves eight counties in northeastern Tennessee and eight counties in southwestern Virginia. Provides organ and tissue recovery services to 25 area hospitals and strives to increase awareness about the critical need for organ and tissue donors through public and professional education. Inova Blood Donor Services collects blood and blood components that help save lives in the community. Inova Blood Donor Services supplies blood, blood components and/or testing to hospitals and medical centers.
Does not provide general financial assistance. Offers classes for first aid, HIV/AIDS and fire safety. Provides disaster services and emergency shelter in times of disaster as well as contact for military families in cases of emergency. Volunteer opportunities available. Inova Blood Donor Services collects blood and blood components that help save lives in the community. Inova Blood Donor Services supplies blood, blood components and/or testing to hospitals and medical centers.
The American Red Cross is the single largest supplier of blood in the United States, providing approximatley 40 percent of the nation's blood supply. Blood and platelets are needed for many different reasons--accident and burn victims, heart surgery patients, organ transplant patients, and those receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer or sickle cell disease may all need blood. Anyone age 17 and over - weigh at least 110 lbs - in good health - can donate blood.
Blood donated through the Armed Services Blood Program stays in the military family and can save the life of a service member, veteran or family member.
Offers First Aid, Safety Education and CPR instruction.
Promotes and coordinates educational and information activities as related to organ and tissue donation and transplantation in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.
Blood donation is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. Whether a patient receives whole blood, red cells, platelets or plasma, this lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation.
Offers schedules of American Red Cross blood drives in the counties of Augusta, Rockingham and Rockbridge and the cities of Staunton, Waynesboro, Harrisonburg, Buena Vista, and Lexington.

The Virginia State Anatomical Program is authorized to receive donations of human bodies for scientific study. The primary mission of the VSAP is to educate health professionals by providing human donors for the teaching of anatomy and surgery and medical research.
This program provides monthly community bloodmobile to accommodate those who volunteer to donate their blood so that the Red Cross can assure a safe, adequate supply of blood to the Appalachian region hospitals served.
ODEF is a procurement, processing, research, and distribution center for donated human eye tissue. Coordinate events from the time of a donor’s death to the transplantation of corneal or scleral tissue.
Offers blood bank services. Provides blood and blood derivatives to hospitals in central and eastern Virginia and eastern North Carolina.
