Provides disability related assistance and services to people with disabilities and the community. Services include: *Advocacy - to promote, protect, and defend the rights of people with disabilities *Information and Referral - to connect clients with resources in their community to better meet their needs *Transitions - to help consumers manage changes in their school, work, or housing. These include home modifications such as the installation of walk-in showers, ramps, grab bars, railings, etc. *Independent Living Skills training *Peer Support
Funding to construct ramps, install grab bars, railings and complete other home modifications that will enable a disabled individual to remain independent within their own homes. Availability depends on funding sources.

Independent Living Skills Instruction
To assist people with disabilities to achieve the highest potential and benefit of indepdendent living by providing them, those who support them, and the community with information, education, and resources. Additiional Languages Spoken, DARI & FARSI.
Independent Living Coordinators are individuals with disabilities who share similar life experiences to those being served. Through Peer Mentoring, consumers learn about the needs and resources necessary for independent living. Consumers set goals and actively pursue steps to achieve their goals. Peer Mentoring takes place individually or in a group setting.
To assist persons who are severely disabled to live independently in the community and to encourage necessary change with the community so independent living is a possibility. Please Note: ****Do not provide financial assistance nor do we place people in housing.***
Provides a full range of independent living services (non-residential) to all ages of people with significant disabilities residing in Planning District 22 for the purpose of increasing self sufficiency and full community integration.

Lynchburg Area Center for Independent Living promote a philosophy of consumer (ie people with disabilities) control, peer support, self-help, self-determination, equal access, and individual and system advocacy, to maximize the leadership, empowerment, independence, productivity of individuals with significant disabilities into the mainstream of American society.
