Special Education - Rustburg, Child Find Services, Campbell County Public Schools

Campbell County Public Schools provides for a free and appropriate public education for all children with disabilities, ages 2-21 inclusive, who reside in Campbell County and are highly mobile such as homeless or migrant, reside in Campbell County, including wards of the state, who are not home-schooled or attending a private school; and attend a home-school or private school which is located within the geographic boundaries of Campbell County. Special Education and related services are available for persons who have disabilities in the following areas: autism, deaf-blindness, developmental delay, deafness, hearing impairment, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, emotional disability, severe disability, specific learning disability, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, and visual impairment. In addition, free and appropriate public education services are available under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and it's supporting regulations for any qualified child with a disability who: (1) has a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities; (2) has a record of such an impairment; and (3) is regarded as having such an impairment.

The children may have one or more of these conditions: a slow rate of development in language or motor skills, hearing or visual problems, and or a physical handicap.

Pediatric Therapy - Richmond, SOAR365

SOAR365 offer two types of programming: 1) early intervention (children ages birth to 36 months) in the child's natural environment such as home, childcare or community settings, and 2) outpatient therapy (children ages birth through school age) in the clinic space at 3600 Saunders Avenue. The team includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and developmental services/educators.

Disability Resources Children - Charlottesville, Blue Ridge Care Connection for Children, University of Virginia Health System

Serves children birth to age 21 with special health care needs. Provides care coordination including referrals to health care services, case management, and referrals community support and resources. Maintains a database of regional and local resources for children with special health care needs. Financial assistance may be available to assist with specialty medical care, if income and medical criteria are met. Also loaner hearing aids for children are available through the Virginia Hearing Aid Loaner Bank housed at UVA. Provides a network of experienced and trained parents and other family caregivers of children with special health care needs who assist families to participate in the planning and decision-making about their child's services and plan for the child's future. Blue Ridge Care Connection for Children is located in Charlottesville but serves 16 counties and 5 cities to the West and North of Albemarle County. It is a collaboration between the Virginia Department of Health and the University of Virginia Children's Medical Center. The BRCCC is directly affiliated with the UVA Children's Medical Center. BRCC serves the Counties of Albemarle, Augusta, Clarke, Culpeper, Fauquier, Frederick, Greene, Highland, Madison, Nelson, Orange, Page, Rappahannock, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Warren and Cities of Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Staunton, Waynesboro, Winchester. Health Screening/Diagnosis - Gate City, Child Development, Scott County Health Department

Southwest Virginia Child Development Clinic offers a multi-disciplinary team approach for the evaluation of children and youth from birth to 21 years, suspected of having developmental delays and/or disabilities from our twelve county, three city area. The process involves testing, assessing, and making a diagnosis. We will make referrals and recommendations as needed to address the needs of our children and their families. Field clinics are conducted on a limited basis within the region. Diagnostic Evaluations are performed for the following: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism, Developmental delays, Mental Retardation, Behavioral/Emotional Disorders, Learning Problems, and other developmental disorders or disabilities.
