Group Residences for Adults With Disabilities
Respite Services include short-term relief for primary caregivers of individuals with disabilities by trained staff of The Arc of Harrisonburg and Rockingham. Respite is conducted in the participants' home and allows caregivers to attend to daily needs such as grocery shopping and personal doctors appointments while Direct Service Professionals care for and engage with their adult child(ren).

Medicaid Waiver programming at Goodwill focuses on providing supports to individuals so they may achieve their personal goals and objectives. The programs operate in accordance with the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services licensing regulations. Individuals receive services both in the Goodwill center and community based settings depending on their preference and interests. Discovery Services are Day Support programs at Goodwill. Through the programs, individuals will receive the support they need to acquire, retain, and improve their skills in areas that they have identified. A wide variety of opportunities, in both community and center based settings, for peer interactions, enhancement of social networks, and to build natural supports will lead to greater independence. Individuals enrolled in Discovery Services may participate in Group Day Support, Community Engagement, or Community Coaching services. Programing is offered at the Roanoke Jobs Campus, Radford Jobs Campus, and Rocky Mount Jobs Campus. Individuals living in Goodwill's 31 counties and 13 cities service area are eligible for services, however are responsible for their own transportation.

Program offers people with developmental disabilities a family based solution to their needs. Family Care homes provide a person-centered, family-based home in which an individual with developmental disabilities can become an active member of a family. Respite support offers temporary, short-term, home-based support for an individual. Respite offers care givers an opportunity for vacation and support during emergencies. Family based residential options for children with developmental disabilities.

Adult Foster Homes
Provides residential services for adults and children with special needs and disabilities including intellectual disabilities, autism, pervasive developmental disorders, mental illness and emotional disturbances. Services include training in daily living, community, domestic, leisure, behavioral, and social skills with access to therapeutic supports including individual and family therapy, speech/language therapy and occupational therapy. Adult and Youth Group Homes are located throughout Frederick and Clarke counties as well as in Winchester and Richmond Virginia Does not accept individuals who are active fire-setters, actively suicidal, active substance abusers, homicidal, or sex offenders. Students and adult consumers are identified as having more than one diagnosis; for example, autism with severe mental retardation; anxiety disorder and mental retardation; and bi-polar disorder and learning disabilities. Grafton also serves people with physically handicapping conditions such as cerebral palsy.

Offered in the consumer's home, the respite provider's home, or in a community respite setting. Day school for autistic children using one-on-one instruction utilizing the Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Technique with positive reinforcements. Qualified and licensed to serve people with autism, ages 3-21. Educational programs and behavioral intervention strategies are developed with our Behavior consultant to meet the individual needs of each person. Emphasizes a strong focus on communication, socialization, and adaptive living skills.

Horizon's case management services are provided to support individuals with a mental health illness, substance use disorder or intellectual and developmental disabilities. Case Managers: Understand that physical health and environmental stressors can affect a person’s overall well-being. Coordinate with local resources and organizations when necessary to address whole-person health consistent with a wrap-around care model. Strive to connect individuals and families to community resources, needed services, and monitor for satisfaction of services and support received. OPTIONS (Opening People To Individual Opportunities in a Network of Support) offers day support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The activities at OPTIONS include a variety of individualized and group projects which are both center and community-based. Licensed by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), Office of Intellectual Disability Supports (OIDS), and funded primarily through the Mental Retardation Community Medicaid Waiver and the Developmental Disabilities Medicaid Waiver.
