Bon Secours Palliative Medicine supports patients when symptoms are overwhelming, when facing difficult decisions, and when dealing with chronic medical conditions such as cancer and emphysema. Palliative care is patient and family-centered.
Hospice is a large program encompassing a wide range of services and care for those afflicted with a terminal disease and their families. Hospice strives to treat the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the patient. A nurse makes home visits to help manage symptoms, while home health aides help with personal care and companionship. Social workers aide with emotional support and advanced directives, speaking with families to determine strengths and needs, coordinate problem solving, counselling and referrals. Finally, chaplain services provide spiritual support upon request. Palliative care exists to enhance the comfort and quality of life, with no specific therapy being excluded from consideration.

Offers non-medical assistance for those living with a life threatening illness and for those who love them. Provides in home and out of the home services. In home services include respite for caregivers; volunteer assistance with transportation to medical appointments and other hands on help; loaning of equipment and supplies; spiritual care and support from a Chaplain; and a library. Hospice house provides a home away from home for patients and caregivers. 24 hour care provided by trained staff is also provided. Various support groups are available for patients, caregivers and members of the community.
