DBVI provides services and resources which empower individuals who are blind, vision impaired or deafblind to achieve their desired levels of employment, education, and personal independence. Services are provided through 4 main programs: Vocational Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Teaching and Independent Living, Low Vision Services and Education Services. Vocational Rehabilitation - Roanoke, Medicaid Waiver Programs, Goodwill Industries of the Valleys
Medicaid Waiver programming at Goodwill focuses on providing supports to individuals so they may achieve their personal goals and objectives. The programs operate in accordance with the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services licensing regulations. Individuals receive services both in the Goodwill center and community based settings depending on their preference and interests.
Discovery Services are Day Support programs at Goodwill. Through the programs, individuals will receive the support they need to acquire, retain, and improve their skills in areas that they have identified. A wide variety of opportunities, in both community and center based settings, for peer interactions, enhancement of social networks, and to build natural supports will lead to greater independence. Individuals enrolled in Discovery Services may participate in Group Day Support, Community Engagement, or Community Coaching services.
Programing is offered at the Roanoke Jobs Campus, Radford Jobs Campus, and Rocky Mount Jobs Campus. Individuals living in Goodwill's 31 counties and 13 cities service area are eligible for services, however are responsible for their own transportation.
