Offers mentoring to children whose parents, caretakers or other family members are incarcerated or have recently been released.
A program of the Lynchburg Chapter of the The Links, Inc. STEP with Links (STEP means Striving To Enhance Potential). The purpose is to enhance the leadership potential of young, minority boys and girls. Programs are designed to meet individual and group needs of the participants.

Teenagers who are pregnant or parenting their first newborn are eligible to receive adult mentoring services from women who have raised children of their own. Mentors reinforce basic health education related to pregnancy and parenting such as nutrition, infant growth and development, coping skills, and the importance of receiving health care services for themselves and for their infants. Resource Mothers help young parent(s) keep medical appointments, develop plans for the baby's care, stay in school or continue working, delay repeat pregnancies until adulthood, and solve the myriad of day to day problems involved in being a new parent.

Designed to involve at risk girls and inner city girls in activities based on the philosophy of the Girl Scout Program.
Offers a club for 5th through 8th grade boys that meets Monday evenings for large group games, skits, dinner, speakers, Bible study and service. Leaders teach Skills for Adolescence.
Junior Achievement of Greater Hampton Roads provides several ways that you can get involved whether you're someone looking to volunteer, part of a district or school looking for educational materials, or part of a business looking to help us expand the reach of our mission.
Provides adult volunteers with a child who is between the ages of 6 and 13. The child and the mentor meet two to four hours per week in the community and participate in activities that you both enjoy.
A special mentoring program for first time pregnant or parenting teens. Teens will receive education about taking care of themselves and their infants up to one year of age. Teens will benefit from assistance with setting educational goals, accessing healthcare, and planning for the future care of their infant.
Provides a comprehensive program by which youth and adults develop character, citizenship, mental and physical fitness which are reinforced through mentoring, advancement, activities and outdoor programs. Boys and girls ages 5-20 are welcome. The Shenandoah Area Council administers the Boy Scouting program for four districts to provide localized support for Scouting. The Potomac District serves Berkeley and Morgan counties (except Paw Paw area). The Shawnee District serves the City of Winchester and Frederick County in Virginia and Capon Bridge and Paw Paw in West Virginia. The Shenrapawa District serves Page, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, and Warren counties. The Mannahoac District serves Clarke County in Virginia and Jefferson County in West Virginia.

The Hand-in-Hand Resource Mothers Program is a home visiting program that reaches the pregnant and parenting teens in our community and connects them with a variety of services that will ensure a healthy pregnancy, healthy baby and mother, and attainment of educational goals giving them opportunities for life long success. Provides a mentoring program for pregnant and parenting teenagers age 19 years and younger. Also assists with transportation to doctor's appointments, education dealing with nutrition, pregnancy, child development, health, budgeting, self-sufficiency and offers help with career planning and returning to school.
MAD4YU has provide FREE tutoring, life enhancement, and computer training to under-resourced individuals in Richmond and surrounding counties and families (youth 1st-12th, adults, and active seniors) with collaborations, donations, contributions, and assistance of committed and talented volunteers as agents of change. The name reflects its very purpose: making a difference for you. That is - providing the tools for success - using computer literacy and study skills as the catalyst - to equip those who otherwise might not have access.

To provide children with military affiliation, facing adversity with strong enduring, professionally supported one to one relationships. In the Hampton Roads area, BBB's serve middle school age children in military connected families.
Planning and coordination of services to youth; evaluation and referral of youth in need of services to appropriate agencies for purpose of directing them from the court system. Youth Council for City High School students. Mentoring programs for youth. Also provides life skill work shops, such as health, anger management and stress management.
Provides services for incarcerated (or formerly incarcerated) parents, their children, and the children's caregivers. Services include both individual and group tutorial sessions. Children participate in community service projects and monthly workshops. Parents and caregivers also attend workshops and seminars to assist with transitioning and meeting the needs of the children.
Provides training and information to middle and high school students that prepares them to make good decisions about their post-high school plans. Encourages students to continue their education beyond the high school level and provide on-going support and advisement. Serves the middle and high schools in Bristol Virginia, Washington County, Virginia and Chilhowie and Northwood schools in Smyth County, Virginia.

Helps low-income students Grades 9-12 explore the possibility of higher education. Offers assistance for students in high school. Workshops address goal setting, academic preparation, admissions procedures, financial aid and college selection. Campus visits and cultural enrichment activities are also included.
Serves youth involved in risky behiors and their families. An initial risk assessment is completed to determine the youth's risk factors. Some of the services implemented are evidence based and designed to reduce the youth's risk level. Services include Decision Points; Substance Abuse Groups; Healthy Youth Initaitive, Pre-Truancy Program and Middle School Suspension Program. The goal is to encourage youth to become responsible, respectful, and productive members of the community.

Mentoring program for pregnant teens. These adult role models have successfully raised their own children and assist the teen throughout her pregnancy and up to the baby's first birthday.
Provides supplemental educational services to the children, aged 3-21, of current and former migrant farm workers and highly mobile agricultural laborers. Services offered are assistance enrolling in school, mentoring and tutoring support and arrangements, including transportation and Spanish/English interpretation, for appointments that directly affect a child's education or well-being. The Shenandoah Valley Migrant Education Program (MEP) serves the public school systems in the cities of Harrisonburg and Winchester and the counties of Clarke, Frederick, Fauquier, Loudoun, Page, Prince William, Rappahannock, Rockingham, Shenandoah and Warren. Our team includes 5 year-round, bilingual (Spanish/English) Migrant Student Advocates, several work-study student employees and over 20 trained volunteer tutors.

Non-profit organization creating One-to-One mentoring relationships between volunteer Big Brothers/Sisters over age 21 with Little Brothers/Sisters, age 7 through 15 years to enroll; primarily from single-parent homes for mentoring and support. Adult volunteers are carefully screened and whenever possible are matched with youth who live nearby.
Bilingual leadership mentoring programs for Hispanic students in elementary, middle, and high school who meet with a leadership coach to discuss bilingual leadership lessons, and learn mindful yoga de-stressing and focusing techniques.
