Fathers in Training (FIT) provides a supportive environment where young fathers can learn to parent their children, become financially responsible and learn about relationships, health and sexuality. in an environment that is conducive to learning and will address some very serious barriers to effective fathering such as domestic violence, anger management, conflict resolution, responsible fathering and working with support systemsand employment. FIT is geared to the protection of children and family. Twenty week (20 sessions) training sessions . Participants must complete at least 17 out of 20 sessions in order to receive a certificate of Program Completion.
Provide parents with information and support as they work with schools to meet their child's learning needs. These needs include but are not limited to academic, social, emotional, developmental and functional skills. Many of the school staff also take advantage of the services at the Center. Promoting a positive partnership between parents and educators, the Parent Resource Center helps families understand the important role they play as part of the educational team.

Offers support and education for all new parents, including prenatal mothers. The First Step program is not a home visitation program; it provides support over the phone and education information via mail. Referrals for services that a family might need can be made on their behalf to other agencies.

Healthy Families Programs are offered to provide intensive support services to overburdened families with newborn children.
Provides co-parenting classes for parents or other custodial individuals going through change in family life. This class teaches parents how to manage conflict and how to effectively parent when living in two separate households. Separation, divorce, economic changes, and the addition of a new spouse can all bring added stress to two parents who are trying to parent children from separate homes. This class gives valuable reminders, simple tools for managing conflict within the family, and information about your children's developmental needs.
Provides a wide range of classes that teach you what to expect during childbirth, how to care for a newborn and helpful parenting skills. Also offer Maternity Case Management for first-time mothers or women who desire extra support during a subsequent pregnancy. Offers educational classes to women in the community on such topics as nutrition and exercise, siblings, Cesarean birth and infant readiness and other subjects of current concern to women. Offers fatherhood skills primarily to fathers of Eastern Shore Head Start students. Uses the comprehensive 24/7 Dad program developed by the National Fatherhood Iniative.
Program designed to help parents understand their youth's developmental changes, while encouraging positive communication to resolve conflict in the home and out.
The New Parent Support Program (NPSP) offers parental support through a variety of programs, services, and referrals for parents and parents-to-be.

Military Family Service/Support Centers
Provides information, referral, and resources on parenting concerns; parenting classes include Children and Divorce; Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP); Parenting in a Military Family; Dads and Discipline, Enhancing Step Families, Parenting Teens, and Single Parenting in the Military. FFSC also offers a New Parent Resource Awareness Workshop for expectant active duty women.
Mentor program for pregnant teens. These adult role models have successfully raised their own children and assist the teen throughout her pregnancy and up to the baby's first birthday.
Provides no cost pregnancy tests, options education including abortion, parenting, & adoption; birth control and emergency contraception information; limited medical services including ultrasound, STI/STD testing & treatment; post-abortion support; pregnancy and parenting education and support to women and men in unexpected pregnancies, regardless of background, beliefs or situation. Appointments can be made at lifespringva.org/contact/. Walk-ins are welcome. Maternity clothing is available at the Downtown Charlottesville location. All baby items can easily be earned through our parenting enrichment program, Parent University.

The Hand-in-Hand Resource Mothers Program is a home visiting program that reaches the pregnant and parenting teens in our community and connects them with a variety of services that will ensure a healthy pregnancy, healthy baby and mother, and attainment of educational goals giving them opportunities for life long success. Provides a mentoring program for pregnant and parenting teenagers age 19 years and younger. Also assists with transportation to doctor's appointments, education dealing with nutrition, pregnancy, child development, health, budgeting, self-sufficiency and offers help with career planning and returning to school.
Families First is a home visiting program for expectant and parenting first-time mothers. Family support workers provide regular home visits to assist mothers in nurturing and caring for their children and themselves. Family support workers share information, videos, and activities about childbirth preparation, child health and development, parenting and parent/child interaction and local resources.
Resource Mothers is an in-home visiting program matches experienced mothers with pregnant teenagers to help provide guidance as they make the adjustment to motherhood.
Provides intensive support information and education to new and expectant parents in their homes. These services are offered to women in their first and second trimester of pregnancy and their families who have been evaluated to determine family strengths and the need for home visitation services. The program helps families develop problem solving skills, effective parenting techniques and home management skills, and ensures that each child in the program receives well-baby care and age appropriate baby care.
Provides supportive and caring services to military families through a variety of programs such as home visits, infant massage, play groups, support groups, and parenting classes. NPSP can help families cope with stress, isolation, deployment/post-deployment issues, and improve parenting skills.

Offering pregnancy and parenting resources and support to women, men, and families in our community. Services include free and confidential pregnancy tests, pregnancy options counseling, pregnancy and parenting education, material services including maternity, infant and children's clothing, and community referrals. Diapers and formula are available on an emergency basis only. Participants in the educational classes are eligible to receive baby items such as cribs, car seats, strollers, etc. Services are also avaiable to grandparents and foster parents.

The Young Mothers Program provides housing, counseling and training to homeless young women, age 16 to 24, who are pregnant or have young children, and support services for minors who are pregnant or parenting. With an emphasis on parenting, education, job readiness and self-sufficiency, our graduates are able to support themselves and their children when they leave the program.

In addition to pregnancy options counseling and limited medical services our practical assistance includes: Life skills classes such as parenting classes and mom's support groups and Birth of a Family are offered and maternity and baby clothes (up to 24 month size) for eligible clients, emergency diapers and formula as available. Also have access to interpretors in almost any known language through on line live medical intrepretors. Do not perform or refer for abortions.
