Camp - Harrisonburg, Rockingham County Parks and Recreation

Provides a Summer Playground Camp that begins in June for children 4-12 years old. The programs are at the Elkton, John C. Myers, John Wayland, Wilbur Pence, McGaheysville, Mountain View, Peak View, South River, Lacey Spring Elementary schools. The Summer Playground Camp meets June through August weekdays, Monday - Friday 7:30AM-5:30PM. Also provides a Little School program designed to promote the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of all children in a safe and nurturing environment. This learning environment recognizes that all children develop at their own special rate and emphasis is placed on this individual growth and each child's special needs. Little School meets September through May, 3 days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thrusday from 9:30AM-12:00PM for children ages 3, 4 and 5 years old.

Parks - Max Meadows, New River Trail State Park, Pulaski County Parks and Recreation

Virginia's only linear state park is a rails-to-trails project following an abandoned railroad line through tunnels, over bridges and along the New River from downtown Pulaski to Galax. The Trail is 57 miles long and parallels the New River for 29 miles providing excellent water activities. The state park is excellent for hiking, horseback riding and bicycling. Bike, canoe, and guide services are available.
