Public use Amenities include picnic shelters, restrooms, skate parks, kayak launches, playing fields and courts, boat ramps, dog parks, fishing pier, garden areas, multi-use trails, disc golf courses, park rentals, special events, and playgrounds.

Virginia's only linear state park is a rails-to-trails project following an abandoned railroad line through tunnels, over bridges and along the New River from downtown Pulaski to Galax. The Trail is 57 miles long and parallels the New River for 29 miles providing excellent water activities. The state park is excellent for hiking, horseback riding and bicycling. Bike, canoe, and guide services are available.

Overnight camps that are open to all military children ages 7-17. The program aims to help military kids experience carefree fun while also learning coping skills to deal with deployment-related stress and fostering relationships with other children who know what they are going through.
