The Colonial Heights Department of Recreation & Parks sponsors a variety of summer programs. Summer programs are available for individuals ranging in ages of 5-17 years old. Programs begin in late June and end in early August.

Provides a pool which offers a wide range of aquatic programming from general recreational activities to specialized instructional classes.

Provide adapted recreation in a community based setting for differently abled (mentally, physically, sensory, etc.) people and others, including senior citizens, veterans, and more.

Provides recreational activities, facilities, and programs to meet the recreational needs of the citizens of the City of Martinsville. The City of Martinsville has entered into a contract with the Martinsville YMCA to provide contractual services for the City Parks and Recreation programs. The YMCA will advertise and accept applications for youth football, basketball, baseball, co-ed adult softball, etc; assign teams and schedules, coordinate venues, arrange, officiate, etc. related to these activities.

Provides a facility whose primary use is for a Senior Citizens Center. The center provides a kitchen, restrooms and a large meeting room. The building may be rented for meetings, parties or other private events for a fee.

Provides parks/recreation areas, recreation/leisure instruction, recreational facilities, and recreational activities to the residents of Clarke County. The Department also manages the 107 acre Clarke County Park. Recreation Center in Berryville has gymnasium, weight and exercise room, meeting room, game room, kitchen and arts and crafts activity room. ACCESSIBILITY: Depends on facility

Provide programs like Before- and After-School Child Care, Day Camps, Swimming and Swim Lessons, Family Activities, Sports for adults and children, Health and Exercise, specialty programs for teens and older adults.

Provides recreational programs and services for area residents in Virginia Beach. Offers cardiovascular equipment, youth game room, adult billiards, gymnasium, sportwall, racquetball courts, weight room, group fitness room, indoor swimming pool, dance room, demonstration kitchen, locker rooms and showers, meeting rooms, and indoor play structure.

Offers year-round recreation activities for youth and adults. Maintain local parks and facilities.

Provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for persons with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Offers a complete program of organized and supervised sports activities, special classes, and major swimming activities for all ages.

Therapeutic Recreation Programs offers a variety of programs throughout the year, including an after school program, summer day camps, aquatic programs and social/leisure programs for children, teens and adults with disabilities. Diagnoses served include Autism Spectrum disorder, ADD/ADHD, Down syndrome, learning disability, mild to profound intellectual disability, traumatic brain injury, hard of hearing, visual or physical disability. Program dates, times and fees vary each season so be sure to check on-line for the current offerings.

A social drop-in center (no appointment needed) for mental health consumers. Provides a safe, consumer run alternative for the purpose of socialization, self help, advocacy, recreation and education. Operates primarily during the time traditional providers of mental-health services are closed. Employs consumers of mental health services as staff with the belief that they can provide services for individuals, making their own lives more productive and meaningful, while enriching the lives of others. Sponsors support groups such as the Peer Support Group, Veteran's Support Group, Wellness Recovery Action Plan Workshops, Codependents Anonymous, Music Group, and Dual Recovery Anonymous; a 12-step program for people with both substance abuse and mental health issues. Provides activities such as bingo, chess and checkers, cook outs, karaoke, holiday activities and more. Veterans Group on Mondays at 1pm.

Provides an informal educational programs for girls, developing their maximum potential and decision-making skills. Also provides a comprehensive program by which youth and adults develop character, citizenship, mental and physical fitness, which are reinforced through mentoring, advancement, activities, and outdoor programs.

Through the Inclusion Program, any county resident with any type of disability can participate in any of the county's leisure and recreational activities. Please call to discuss available options.

A fun,exciting, and safe teamwork activity . Challenge Course is available to community groups, companies and organizations. Low Elements course includes activities such as Trust Circles, Australian trolley, tire traverse, a low climbing wall, flying carpet, nitro crossing,and alligator boards Can accommodate up to 30 participants per session. High elements activities include a 34 foot climbing wall, leap for life and zip line. Minimum age for High Elements is 9 years old. Facilitators are fully trained and qualified by the leading challenge course trainers in the industry.

Facilitates maintenance of the Appalachian Trail by Appalachian Trail Clubs and other volunteers. This agency does have a list of Appalachian Trail Clubs and will refer.

Administers and provides all recreation programs and activities, park facilities, special events and services. Acts as a liaison to community groups providing recreational activities. Coordinates leisure opportunities throughout the community. The focus of the Department is to contribute to the quality of life and environment for their citizens.

The Henry County Parks & Recreation Dept Senior Section is to fulfill all contractual requirements as a subcontractor of the Southern Area Agency on Aging by providing needed services to residents of Henry County who are sixty years of age and older, frail, and in the greatest economic and social need.
