High elements activities include a 34 foot climbing wall, leap for life and zip line. Minimum age for High Elements is 9 years old. Facilitators are fully trained and qualified by the leading challenge course trainers in the industry.

A 400 acre scenic park providing rest and relaxation through camping, boating, fishing, hiking, and picnicking. With 22 miles of shoreline and water depths ranging up to 50 feet, Gatewood is ideal for the growth of many trophy size large mouth bass, along with a good number of crappie, catfish, blue gill, muskie and small mouth bass. No boat with petroleum motors are allowed. Canoes and boats with electric motors are available for rent on an hourly or daily basis. Campers at Gatewood can choose from 42 level campsites along the shoreline, all equipped with water and electrical hook-ups.

The marina is a 3 mile cruise from Washington DC and Maryland. The City Marina has overnight boat slips plus additional short-term docking space on sea walls and adjacent areas. The City Marina offers docking for pleasure boats and commercial vessels. For boaters who wish to stay overnight, restroom and shower facilities are available.

Provides a variety of quality recreational programs and leisure activities for Appomattox County residents along with providing management of parks, recreation areas and civic facilities. Also works closely with youth sport groups like The Appomattox Youth Sports Association and The Appomattox Soccer Association to facilitate the scheduling of fields, gymnasiums and facilities for youth sport programs.
