Provides a public recreation department that manages county parks and recreation programs. Committed to facilitating, promoting and providing quality parks and recreational facilities and programs and leisure opportunities to satisfy the diverse interests and needs of the community. To reach the Community Center at Sherando, please call (540)869-5988. ACCESSIBILITY: Buildings comply with ADA. A handicap accessible bus is available for program transportation. Many programs are accessible to persons with disabilities.

The Center offers a consolidated program of activities including social activities, and recreation programs for area seniors at the Senior Center located in the Community Center. Some activities include walking trips, bowling, movies and other outings .The Senior Center welcomes residents and non-residents age 50 years and older.

The Academy Center of the Arts is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting and presenting the visual and performing arts, while creating opportunities for arts education and strengthening DEIB focused events. Our mission is to cultivate a healthier and more interconnected community through cultural infrastructure and community-building arts programs. Through the Academy, community health and interconnectivity will be cultivated through: Programs that inspire individuals of all ages, unlocking their inherent potential and nurturing social bonds. State-of-the-art facilities and dedicated support staff that elevate other local arts institutions and cultural activities. Activities that engage broad audiences, with special emphasis on addressing limited access to community networks by fostering collaboration and expanding opportunities for personal growth.

Artist Services
Neighborhood centers offer a rich variety of recreational activities including the classic games of pool, ping pong, basketball, foosball, and four-square as well as skill development in special topics, arts and cultural explorations, and academic enrichment. Neighborhood centers offer activities for all ages - After School programming, Fifty Plus programming, family meal nights, Teen Scene, summer day camps, social activities for the neighborhood, and city-wide tournaments.

Parks and Recreation offers trails, historic landmarks, athletic fields, relaxing shelters as well as safe accessible playgrounds. The Department boasts a wide range of yearlong events and programs for all ages and interests.
The program consists of organized recreational activities, sports, contests, arts & crafts, games, and special events. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. This program is not a day care program but a Drop In Recreation Program. Children need to bring lunches, snacks and drinks each day.

Seniors who can independently take care of their basic needs according to established participant guidelines. Arlington's County's Office for Teens provides programs for teens, often created by teens, that are fun, engaging and that help teens develop the assets they need to be productive, happy and healthy.
Services for seniors: rehabilitative exercise, regular exercise, ceramics, sewing instruction, stroke recovery support group, legal aid and counseling, tax aid, bingo, movies, day trips,computer classes and shopping excursions. Lunches are served at the center on certain days. Programs and parties. Winterization and case management.
