Recruits and trains citizen volunteers to serve as mentors, teachers, service coordinators, court representatives, and outreach workers. Volunteers provide services to incarcerated offenders and newly released offenders, both inside the jail and in the community. Volunteers also provide services to the families of offenders.

Recruits and trains community volunteers to serve as court advocates for abused and neglected children. Volunteers conduct independent investigations, submit reports and recommendations to the court and monitor the child's case to assure services are provided and court orders are being followed. Volunteer advocates also promote and support safe, permanent and nurturing homes for child victims before the courts of the 16th Judicial District of Virginia. Offers volunteer opportunities in all aspects of organization. All volunteers are provided with appropriate training. Training is mandatory.
Provides trained and screened volunteers matched to persons with visual impairments requesting assistance with reading, shopping, recording material onto tape at mutually agreeable hours. Adult volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application with reference checks and participate in an orientation session. Other volunteer opportunities include Camp Lighthouse counselors, special events and office assistance.
