Provides quality care for the citizens of the commonwealth with serious mental or secondary substance abuse disorders within an integrated and collaborative service system which involves linkage with consumers, families and community health care providers. Accepts individuals with serious mental health, ages 18-64 who are residents of Northwest and Central Virginia. Accepts deaf patients from all of Virginia and jail transfers only from Northern Virginia for psychiatric evaluation.

In addition, it is the entry point for outpatient MH/SA services at the CSB for Hanover County residents who meet the eligibility criteria for these services.

RBHA's Crisis Intervention provides 24-hour emergency services, information, referral, and triage for outpatient services for individuals in the City of Richmond. Crisis clinicians will be available to discuss and respond to service needs. Individuals seeking services from outside the City of Richmond will be linked to the Crisis Intervention program or to the Community Services Board serving the locality where they reside.

Services include individual, family, and group counseling, play and expressive art therapies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, case management, crisis intervention, psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and discharge planning from state and private mental hospitals with linkage to community services. Therapy services are provided to detainees at Roanoke Valley Juvenile Detention Center.

Immediate attention is given to problem-solving, safety planning and assessing risk factors.
