United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg identifies the community’s greatest challenges and drives impact by investing in solutions in youth opportunity, financial stability and healthy community.

Provides services that promote the orderly and efficient development of the physical, social and economic elements of PD7 by planning, encouraging and assisting governmental subdivisions to plan for the future. Also encourages and facilitates local government cooperation, in addressing on a regional basis, problems of greater than local significance. The Commission provides a variety of technical services to its member local governments including: planning, mapping, grant application assistance, and network meetings.

Provides regional planning and coordination services for Planning District 16. Serves the localities and citizens of the region through planning activities and programs related to a variety of issues, including economic development, environmental services, housing and community health, transportation demand management, and rural and urban transportation planning.

The Planning Council has been recognized as a community convener around human services issues. With expertise in community needs assessments, research, and evaluation, data analysis, and implementation of new strategic plans, our team partners with local governments and businesses, non-profit agencies, and the faith-based community to address the most vulnerable populations' needs.

Does not provide direct services to people seeking employment. Oversees the Workforce Investment Act Programs(WIA) for training and employment)in the New River and Mount Rogers areas. Oversees workforce planning in the service area. Workforce Investment Act services are provided through the One Stop Centers. This Board is an administrative and planning office only.

Provides a non-profit agency which supports community agencies in the Northern Shenandoah Valley. Its non-profit campus provides space for 22 non-profit and public service agencies committed to improving the health and well-being of our community. Our Health strives to develop collaborative partnerships through grant writing and administration, training and technical assistance and its Volunteer Action Center. Training and technical assistance are provided for both non-profit agencies and volunteers.

The Foundation helps the hospital prepare for the growing healthcare needs of the community, and ensures that lifesaving care is available to all local residents, regardless of ability to pay.

Provides transportation, natural resource, and emergency management planning services to local and state agencies. Also offers housing programs and specializes in construction of low and moderate income housing. The A-NPDC is a certified HUD Housing Counseling Agency offering a variety of housing counseling services.

Albemarle County's Community Development Department is responsible for planning, reviewing, and implementing land uses on behalf of the community reflecting the County's interests in historic, natural and cultural resources, the creation and protection of a healthy and safe built environment, the provision of diverse housing, and the effective stewardship of all of the County's assets.

Provides planning for establishing community needs; fundraising for 22 agency partners; and information and referral.

The office of Neighborhood Services works collaboratively with citizens, neighborhood groups, government agencies, businesses and nonprofit organizations to strengthen the social fabric of our neighborhoods. Through the use of social media, other digital platforms, neighborhood collaboration, customer service, public outreach, and other special projects, this office provides a one-stop-shop for engaging with the public. The Office of Community Engagement also encompasses The Office of Communications and Neighborhood Services.

Provides one-on-one training and consultation for nonprofit member organizations. Provides volunteer management software that helps nonprofits to recruit and manage their volunteers for all volunteer needs. Provides training and matching services to prospective nonprofit board members.

Serves as staff to the Board of Supervisors, the Planning Commission, the Board of Zoning Appeals and the public, with respect to land use planning and development. Major responsibilities include planning, zoning, subdivision, building, permitting, and Code and Ordinance enforcement. The Department consists of three functional divisions - the Planning Office, Zoning, Permitting and Inspections Office, and the Environmental Office of the County Soil Scientist.
