Provides weekly collection of residential refuse, recycling, commercial refuse collection, and seasonal collection of bagged leaves. Bulk and brush are collected on alternating weeks. To call the Customer Service Center dial 540-853-2000 and choose option number one. To sign up for recycling service, request two free recycling containers by calling 540-853-2000.
Provides an independent public agency providing impoundment, treatment, storage and transmission of potable water and transport and treatment of wastewater for the citizens of Charlottesville and Albemarle County. The Authority is a wholesale agency with two customers: the Charlottesville Water and Sewer Division and the Albemarle County Service Authority. These two agencies in turn provide service to the individual retail customers. Water and sewer operations are entirely supported by ratepayers, not by taxes.

The Wise Public Works Department is responsible for all the Town's infrastructure. Department personnel are involved in engineering, water and sewer utilities, snow removal, leaf collection, street and sidewalk construction and maintenance, street lighting, vehicle maintenance, refuse collection, recycling, storm water management, and buildings and grounds maintenance.

Responsible for coordinating and directing a solid waste program for Wythe County
Provides a Material Utilization Center at Ivy, located on State Route 637, that serves residents of the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County. The Center includes: transfer station for municipal solid waste and small loads of construction and demolition debris material, vegetative waste mulching operation, household hazardous waste collection, collection centers for white goods, pallets, and tires, and an Encore Shop for collection and sale of reusable items. The Convenience Center (located before the scale house) allows for easy drop offs of recyclables, certain household hazardous waste and tagged bags or receptacles containing trash. The Convenience Center serves the needs of area residents.
The recycling program is tasked with providing recycling collection to eligible single-family homes; encouraging recycling at home, school, and work; as well as providing education about recycling and setting up recycling collection programs.
Helps residents keep Lee County beautiful through its litter control education and enforcement program. Provides information about recycling opportunities. Offers Adopt-A- Highway and Community Service volunteer opportunities.

The Henry County Refuse Department handles the County's household trash disposal. The Refuse Department manages seven Convenience Centers located throughout the County that are in place for County residents to dispose of their household trash and certain other items.

Dickenson County provides free trash collection service to county residents and businesses except within the town of Clintwood which provides its own service.
The Department of Public Works, with many areas of responsibility, helps keep the city of Lynchburg moving each day. The skilled and professional staff provide services such as trash collection, snow and ice removal, maintenance of City streets and sidewalks, manages the City's traffic lights and street signage, just to name a few.
The Solid Waste Management Department provides recycling and waste disposal services for the residents of Appomattox County and the towns of Appomattox and Pamplin. One of our highest priorities is to provide a clean, convenient and safe place for the citizens to dispose of their waste.

The Facilities & Environmental Services Department (FES) provides the following services. Maintains and improves the physical assets of the county, such as buildings, grounds, and infrastructure Ensures compliance with federal environmental laws, promotes pollution prevention, and minimizes waste Oversees the planning, design, and construction of all major capital improvements projects Coordinates with the Community Development Department to protect the natural resources of Albemarle County. Other department services include providing copy services, mail services, building security, fleet management, and street sign maintenance.
Operates curbside collection of ordinary household trash. Special collections are made for large, bulky items; large quantities of refuse; appliances or heavy metal items; and unbundled brush. Hazardous materials require special disposal through the Household Hazardous Waste Program listed separately. Operates a recycling program for county residents and businesses. Offers curbside pick-up and two drop-off centers.
Provides refuse collection once every week for residences in Chesapeake.
Bedford City landfill
Residents and businesses in the city of Roanoke, the county of Roanoke and the town of Vinton generate 700 tons of waste every day. These valley localities have created the Roanoke Valley Resource Authority and joined forces with Norfolk Southern in an innovative public-private partnership to take out the trash. Each locality collects its own trash using its own equipment. After collection, refuse trucks deliver the trash to the Resource Authority's Tinker Creek Transfer Station where it is loaded into rail cars. At the end of the day trash is transported by rail to the Smith Gap Station.
