Provides emergency management and disaster preparedness.
To coordinate the City's response to major emergencies or disasters, whether natural or manmade, with the primary goal being: to save lives, prevent injuries, and protect property and the environment.
Lynchburg Department of Emergency Services houses the City's Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Department members provide command and control support through the EOC to on-scene incident command during disaster situations. Department members also oversee the City's Emergency Operations Plan and provide the community with risk assessments and emergency preparedness information to help mitigate disasters that may occur in the future.
To mitigate against, plan and prepare for, and coordinate responses to emergencies; educate the public on preparedness; collect and disseminate critical informaiton; and seek funding and other aid in support of overall preparedness, by coordinating all activities necessary associated with natural disasters, acts of terrorism or other disasters.
The City of Manassas Park Emergency Management has an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) for the management of major emergencies and disasters within the city. It identifies how the City will respond to and recover from a major incident and is triggered when it becomes necessary to mobilize resources to save lives and protect property and infrastructure.
Coordinates plans for emergency action and services in the event of national or natural disaster. Provides for manpower and equipment in the event of a disaster.

Assigns agencies and volunteer groups at the local level to coordinate and carry out the disaster plan. Also provides emergency training for volunteers. Activates and coordinates all emergency services in the city of Harrisonburg. The Director of Emergency Services, works with the Emergency Services Coordinator, Larry Shifflett, Fire Chief, who is responsible for Command and Control and Robert Symons, Fire Chief of Rockingham County. In times of emergency or disaster, Jim Junkins, the Director of Emergency Communications will activate an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in the Office of Emergency Communications. An emergency information line will also be activated: (540)442-9111. This will be staffed 24/7 for the public to call for emergency/disaster information.

Disaster Preparedness
To prepare the City to respond to, recover from and mitigate against natural and man-made emergencies and disasters. Emergency Management works with local, state and federal government partners, as well as non-governmental organizations to achieve this goal. Emergency Management maintains the City's Emergency Operations Center in a state of constant readiness, and conducts exercises to test and continuously revise the City's Emergency Operations Plan.
Responsible for managing and mitigating emergencies and disaster situations for the City of Williamsburg. The members of the team work hand-in-hand with local, county, state, and federal agencies such as the American Red Cross, Williamsburg-James City County Schools, Colonial Williamsburg and the College of William & Mary.

Town of Bedford's office of Emergency Management is responsible for local disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. The Code of Virginia requires each locality to have a director of emergency management and may appoint a coordinator of emergency management. The Town maintains a local emergency operations plan and is required to regularly hold exercises to test the plan.

This office ensures that the city Emergency Operations Plan is reviewed and updated on a regular basis. In addition, staff who serve this function as a collateral duty, coordinate and attend monthly Regional Emergency Management meetings, attend state mandatory training for emergency coordinators, and maintains and updates the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliance for the city. This office also receives materials from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and distributes them to city and school departments, and maintains the city Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in a "ready condition" in case of an emergency.
