The I&R Service, is a resource for information on the many human services available in the community. I&R is free and confidential and does not provide direct service, but rather informs the caller as to what is available.
Offer referral to our community partners in Health and Medical Services, Human Services, Animal and Environmental Services, and Youth and Education Services. Also offers The TALK Helpline (434) 295-8255 is available 24 hours (September 9-May 10) annually. This is a student-run, student-operated program, staffed entirely of volunteers, affiliated with Madison House. Strives to provide callers with an emphatic ear for any sort of issue they wish to discuss. While HELP LINE volunteers complete a training program, we are not professionals, and so we focus on finding long-term services in the community for our callers, such as counseling services, medical services, drug treatment programs, and the like.

A one-stop calling center for information and compassionate assistance for those in crisis. Calling the Hotline is often the first step an individual makes to access the mental health services and social service organizations within the community. Exists to serve the community with prompt, non-judgmental and comprehensive response to crises, with the goal of supporting increased stability and coping skills through prevention, intervention, postvention, information and referral.

The Information Resource Center (IRC) helps each person to navigate through the treatment, financial and social challenges facing people living with cancer. The IRC offers the most accurate and current information on blood cancers. Information specialists educate patients, families and caregivers on how to communicate with their healthcare teams, and connect with community and national resources, to expedite receiving quality treatment and support services.
