Year-round volunteers provide labor and materials to rehabilitate the homes of DC and Alexandria's low income elderly, disabled residents and families with children, at no cost to the homeowner. Also assists non-profit agencies. Includes installing wheelchair ramps and lifts, stair lifts, grab bars, handrails, weatherizing, painting, yard work and other household repair and revitalization projects. Most work is done on the last Saturday of April but emergency work is done year-round.

The household water well system loan program is designed to assist low- to moderate-income individuals needing loans to construct, refurbish and service their household well systems. The purpose of the program is to target loans to the significant numbers of homeowners in the seven states whose geographically isolated households lack water service, but for whom it is not feasible to be connected to new or existing community water systems. Serves the following states Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont . The Individual Household Well Loan Program can be up to $15,000. Interest rate at 1% and term can be up to 10 years.
Provides vital housing repair services to very low income individuals and families who are unable to help themselves due to sickness, disability or lack of financial resources. Programs include: Home Repair Program, Home Accessibility Modification Program, Home Replacement Program and Indoor Plumbing Rehabilitation Program.
Provides a government lending arm for housing program and repairs for low-income applicants. Serves the counties of Augusta, Rockingham, Highland, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah, Warren and Clarke and the Cities of Winchester, Harrisonburg, Staunton and Waynesboro. Provides repair grants to elderly (62 years and older) very low-income rural homeowners that may be used to remove health and safety hazards by repairing roofs, providing a sanitary water and waste disposal system, installing screens, windows, insulation or taking other steps to make the home safe. No age restriction for 504 loans, must have very low income. Loans are at 1% interest rate for up to 20 years. Other restrictions and requirements may apply.

Assists in weatherizing homes. Homes of senior citizens and handicapped citizens are a priority. Services include: Infiltration (seal large openings, replace broken windows, caulk around windows and doors, and weather strip); water heater insulation (water heaters are wrapped with insulation jackets); attic insulation and venting (insulation is blown into attics. Turbines or vents are placed in roofs to insure proper ventilation); floor insulation (insulation will be installed under floors separating a heated area from an unheated area.

Provides funding for accessibility modifications through the Rental Unit Accessibility Modification Program and the Granting Freedom Program through Virginia Housing.
Loudoun Habitat for Humanity's Home Repair Program covers tasks such as: exterior painting and material repairs, landscaping, building or repairing ramps or sheds, building or repairing a porch or deck, gutter repair and cleaning, sidewalk repair, external cleanup, weatherization, and critical home repair.

Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity's (RMHFH) Critical Home Repair program offers repairs for select localities. Localities served are based on grant funding received. Can help with: Roof repairs/replacement Window replacement of failed windows Exterior door repair/replacement Porch, steps and ramp repair/replace Gutters repair/replace Siding and trim repair/replacement Interior accessibility and life safety repairs
JCIL aids in completing applications for home modifications and makes referrals to those community agencies that specialize in home repair services. JCIL participates with Virginia Housing, Inc. Rental Unit Accesibility Modification grant program (RUAM) and Granting Freedom Program for veterans that provide accessibility modifications for persons with disabilites.

Emergency help repairing homes for families and individuals who cannot afford to buy services and those whose health or safety are threatened. Work usually includes exterior and sometimes interior repair; restoration of pumps, water heaters, and sinks; construction of wheelchair ramps and stairs; and roof repairs (at the availibility of volunteers). The main focus is elderly, disabled and families with young children.
Lead Safe Roanoke is a grant-funded program designed to reduce lead poisoning in children age 5 and under by stabilizing lead-based paint hazards found in rental and single-family homes built in Roanoke prior to 1978.
Habitat DC-NOVA provide critical home repair and aging in place services to residents in the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia. We partner with organizations that provide an in-home functionality assessment done by a licensed therapist to best determine residents' repair needs.
Provide critically needed home repairs and modifications. Committed volunteers and staff address home modifications to reduce the risk of falls, retrofit homes to increase accessibility for frail and disabled individuals, increase energy efficiency to reduce utility costs, and tackle general and deferred maintenance that if left undone could lead to more extensive and costly repairs.

Provides assistance with indoor plumbing for Greene, Orange and Madison County residents. Skyline CAP, Inc. provides application and case management services and some funding through HOME (Housing Opportunities Made Equal). Indoor Plumbing and Plumbing Rehabilitation clients are then referred to AHIP (Albemarle Housing Improvement Program) for Greene County or Rapidan Better Housing for Madison and Orange counties for repairs to owner-occupied dwellings that have no water or wastewater systems or have failed systems or systems that do not meet basic housing standards.
