The Staunton Day education program is for youth who cannot be served in their school's traditional education programs. This is an educational treatment program for young people in grades K-12.
Ivy Creek School (ICS) is a public separate day school providing special education and related services for students with emotional and behavioral disabilities in grades K - 12 from participating divisions. Students are placed at ICS via the IEP Team process and receive intensive and structured educational services and supports designed to meet their unique individual academic and behavioral needs. Student social-emotional needs are addressed through a collaborative 'treatment team' approach, which includes both 1:1 and group counseling, as well as clinician supports, which are all embedded into the structured school day, setting Ivy Creek School apart from other specialized programs. The ICS instructional program is aligned with the State Standards of Learning (SOLs), utilizing principles of universal design, differentiated instructional practices and collaboration with sending divisions. The ICS does not offer an adaptive curriculum instructional program.

The Office of Special Education Instruction directs and supports the development, implementation, operation, and evaluation of Pre K-12 educational programs, curricula, and services that meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. The office plans and provides professional development for staff and administrators and provides instructional leadership for and supervision, coordination, and evaluation of early childhood, elementary, secondary, career and transition programs and services.

The Kellar School is a therapeutic education program serving students grades three through 12 who have been identified as eligible for special education services. The structured, individualized program is designed to meet the needs of students with emotional and/or learning disabilities. These students may also have social, behavioral or health-related issues that significantly interfere with their ability to learn.
Provides information for parents of special needs children. Offers training workshops to parents and provides consultation services including information about special education law and services available. Maintains a lending library of current educational and parenting resources.

Proprietary day school program provides special education services for students ranging in age from five to 22 years, who have been unable to succeed in the public school setting due to severe behavioral difficulties, high truancy rates, low self-esteem, delayed social development, and a history of low motivation and academic achievement.
Goochland County Public Schools offers a variety of special education programs and related services for students with disabilities. The Villa's Dooley Center for Alternative Education serves middle and high school students residing in Henrico, Hanover, and the City of Richmond who have been suspended or expelled from public school, or are returning from a state learning center. The curriculum covers all areas of academic study while stressing the importance of making positive choices and providing students with support and guidance within a structured environment. Dooley Center for Alternative Education help students make up the academic work they missed during their time out of school, using a duel service delivery approach of both direct instruction and online learning to meet students' individual needs. Staff and students work creatively to set goals and earn rewards for success.

Provides clinical and educational services. VIA currently provides the following services: The James C. Hormel School is a year-round, day-school program licensed to serve students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder between the ages of 2 and 22. Provides students with a comprehensive education and clinical program designed to address the core symptoms of autism and related learning issues. A multidisciplinary faculty develops individualized education programs for each student. Students receive daily one-on-one instruction from instructors, as well as supervision from an Behavior Analyst. Students' parents and caregivers receive additional support and training to implement practices in the home. In addition, families are supported by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who helps families and caregivers access additional support and community resources. The Outpatient Behavioral Services program provides evidence-based behavioral therapies designed to address the continuum of needs exhibited by children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder. Services are designed to address the core symptoms of autism spectrum disorder along with many of the associated challenges. Depending upon a client's needs, behavior therapy is provided in their homes, communities, and/or VIA's specialized clinic. In addition to individual therapy, the Outpatient Behavioral Services program provides social skills training groups, summer camps, parent and caregiver coaching, and a number of workshops/continuing education events for health care practitioners, educators and child care providers. The Academy is designed to provide adults with autism spectrum disorder a variety of continuing education opportunities and behavioral supports. The Academy provides a continuum of life-long supports designed to meet the variety of needs adults across the autism spectrum may experience. The Academy is comprised of three colleges: College of Life Skills, College of Business and Entrepreneurship, and the College of Health and Well-being. Adult students in the Academy take a variety of courses designed to teach independent living skills, gaining and maintain meaningful employment, and how to live healthy lifestyles. In addition, the College of Health and Well-being offers behavior consultation services. Behavior consultation services consist of intensive, evidence-based assessment and treatment services to address behavior challenges and provide on-going therapeutic support. Highly-trained licensed staff members use person-centered planning techniques with each client to emphasize individual preferences and strengths. Behavior consultation services are designed to assist adults with autism with accessing and maintaining skills taught at the Academy.
To create solution-based opportunities for students with complex social and emotional challenges in order to transition back to the traditional setting by providing consistent individual therapy, educating through community-based instruction and promoting social awareness.
A free appropriate public education is provided to all identified persons with disabilities ages two to twenty-one, inclusive, who live in Bedford County or who have been placed by their parents in a private school located within the Bedford County jurisdiction. Programs and services are provided to persons identified as having autism, deaf-blindness, developmental delay, hearing impairment, intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, emotional disturbance, specific learning disabilities, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, or a visual impairment. Each special education student's progress is assessed routinely during the school year and the individualized education plan is reviewed annually. A student's need for special services is reevaluated at a minimum of every three years.
