We also provide PrEP & PEP for HIV mitigation services. Be sure to call the Health Department to make sure these medications are available and to make an appointment.

Provides immunizations for communicable diseases and for foreign country travel requirements. Offers flu and pneumonia shots. Tests for sexually-transmitted diseases such as HIV/AIDS and for other communicable diseases such as TB. Other services include information on communicable diseases, investigations of suspected disease outbreaks and preventive treatment for certain diseases. Outbreak investigations can be for suspected food or waterborne diseases, bioterrorist events and contagious diseases spread to humans by either animals or other persons.

Provides anonymous and confidential HIV antibody screening and testing.
Provides individualized medical case management for people living with HIV/AIDS and referral services to other community resources. Services are based upon meeting certain financial eligibility criteria. Depending on available funding, VAN may provide financial assistance for HIV-related medical visits, lab work and HIV and pre-approved non-HIV medications. Additional assistance may include emergency utility assistance (electric and heating oil only). Valley Aids Network (VAN) is a funding source of LAST RESORT after other community resources have been contacted. We also have bilingual (English/Spanish) HIV Support Groups. VAN administers Short-Term HOPWA (Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS), a federal program that provides housing assistance to low income persons with HIV/AIDS and their families. Provides testing and treatment for a range of sexually tranmitted infections, including HIV, syphillis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and Hepatitis B and C. Rapid HIV and Hep C tests are available, as well as rapid in-home HIV test kits. Safer sex items such as condoms, lube, and dental dams available.

Free confidential testing and counseling. Anonymous testing sites can be accessed by calling the Virginia Department of Health and AIDS Hotline at 1-800-533-4148. Free anonymous testing is available in Petersburg by appointment only (804) 863-1652. Medication assistance for protease inhibitors, antiretrovirals etc., is available based on eligibility criteria through the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) administered by the Virginia Department of Health.
FAHASS HIV Testing and Outreach provides prevention information and materials, education relating to all aspects of the disease, and very importantly, HIV testing. HIV testing is free, fast (results in about 20 minutes), confidential, and oral (no needles or blood draw). Testing can be by walk in or appointment.
Provides comprehensive health services are provided for uninsured people with HIV/AIDS.
Provide a wide range of individualized casework support, ranging from benefits acquisition support and mental health and substance abuse referrals to employment and housing search, employment workshops, resume writing, computer mentoring, casework services.
