Provides screening, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of all persons exposed to specific disease; tuberculosis, STD's, HIV/AIDS, food borne illness and more. Information is given regarding prevention from exposure, recognizing symptoms and obtaining treatment. Tuberculin skin test, free in some instances, chest x-rays, evaluation, monitoring of TB cases and contacts are provided. An anonymous HIV Counseling and Testing Clinic is offered. Information on medication and other assistance available for low income persons. Immunizations provided for flu, influenza, pneumonia vaccines, and information State required immunizations for children also available at no charge.
TB program provides services to Henrico residents of all ages that are TB suspects, TB cases, contacts of TB cases, symptomatic of TB, and evaluation of positive TB skin tests, positive IGRA (Interferon Gamma Release Assay) or abnormal chest x-ray suggesting TB. Evaluates clients with signs/symptoms of TB. Language line available for all languages.

The TB Management program aims to control, prevent and eliminate tuberculosis in the community. The program offers free and confidential TB risk assessment screenings on Mondays by appointment only. For those diagnosed with TB or a Latent TB Infection, the TB team collaborates with a patient's medical provider to provide tuberculosis case management to include the provision of medication and care coordination. In addition, the TB team assists with identifying associated cases, the testing of contacts, transportation for CXRs and home visits to deliver medication to perform Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) and Directly Observed Preventative Therapy (DOPT).
Provides surveillance and investigation of disease outbreaks, and assistance for those exposed to tuberculosis. Offers assistance and referral for treatment of sexually transmitted diseases. Provides free, confidential HIV testing and counseling. Information is available through the HIV/STD/Viral Hepatitis Hotline at 1-800-533-4148.

The Fairfax County Health Department's TB control program exists to prevent the spread of the TB disease in the community by identifying illness, providing treatment and taking actions to prevent the spread of disease. Treatment of TB disease, case management, laboratory testing, chest x-rays and medications are free services for Fairfax County residents.
