The Bland County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension is your local connection to Virginia's land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University. Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of Bland County improve their lives. We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.

Promotes good nutrition and physical activity among the youth of Virginia via community-based grants to establish Healthy Community Action Teams (HCATs), community coalitions that work to reduce and prevent obesity on the local level across Virginia. HCAT grants are available every two years and are issued via best-value RFP application process.

Services are available to consumers unable to leave their homes.

Provides socialization over a noon meal at dining center, while offering a variety of recreational, cultural, health, and social activities based on the interests of members age 60 years or older.

Offers licensed professional counseling services for individuals, couples and families. Outpatient services are located at RMH Behavioral Health. The goal is to help clients identify goals, think through solutions and make life changes. Other services include: psychological testing, 24 hour physical emergency services, partial hospitalization, employee assistance program, nutritional therapy and grief support services. Client's efforts to maintain health and happiness. Special focus on geriatric assessment, which includes our well known Driver Advisement Program that provides a thorough check of the cognitive process involved in safely operating a motor vehicle and provide specialized assessments of dementia spectrum disorders. The Healthy Start Loving Steps program provides case management services to reduce infant deaths. The Loving Steps provides nutrition counseling and case management services during pregnancy and after the baby is born. Also serve families that have an infant or toddler with nutrition related medical problems.

Loaves & Fishes' Registered Dietitian Nutritionist visits each car in the parking lot to learn whether there are any specific dietary needs in the household. Loaves & Fishes is able to provide food for specific dietary needs: gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian/vegan, low-fat, diabetic, low-acid.

Provides an Outpatient Nutrition Clinic that attempts to meet all the nutrition educational needs of clients.
