Low Vision Services help Virginians with vision loss make the most of their remaining sight through a full range of community-based support. A team of trained professionals works together to provide services such as vision assessments, counseling, and training on how to use tools and techniques to improve daily life. This includes both optical aids, like magnifiers, and non-optical aids, such as lighting or contrast tools. The team looks at all areas of a person’s life to help them live more independently and confidently.

VEI offers free cataract surgery to people who do not have insurance (including Medicare or Medicaid) and do not have the financial means to pay for cataract surgery.

Virginia Eye Institute is a comprehensive eye care organization providing a wide range of ophthalmology, optometry, and optical services.

Also refers clients for rehabilitation, counseling, and medical services, if necessary. The evaluation also includes educating the patient, family and other care providers on low vision enhancement techniques and resources.

FFB offers information and referral services for affected individuals and their families as well as for doctors and eye care professionals.
